In the Winter of 2010 and into Spring of 2011, Jeremy Sykes Film and Television began an ambitious project for Raymond Entertainment Direct and their client, Korres Natural Products of Athens, Greece. Requiring extensive preparation and travel, the producers and crew focused on but one purpose: to capture the story of how Korres developed and manufactures some of the most highly sought after skin care products in the world, a story best told by those who use it, including some of the world’s most beautiful women. Sixteen days of photography began in Greece with D.P. Jeremy Sykes and crew shooting on the RED Digital Cinema Camera, followed by locations in Los Angeles and New York. 4K coloring of all the RED footage and finishing on the final edit of the program was handled by post house Planet Post in Los Angeles and San Diego, and supervised by Lead Colorist Kyle Hoekstra.

Will Ferrell Hosts Charity Golf Tournament

Planet Post was on hand recently at the 18th annual Will Powered Golf Classic at the Pechanga Resort & Casino. The tournament was hosted by movie star and comedian Will Ferrell and sponsored in part by Planet Post client, Cobra Puma Golf. Despite high temperatures on the course Ferrell later performed in his Kinda Humorous Comedy Show at the Pechanga Theater. Both the tournament and comedy show were fundraisers for Cancer for College, founded by Craig Pollard, Ferrell’s former fraternity brother at the University of Southern California.

HP Linkup for Local Concept

Local Concept offers language translation and localization to companies whose markets, products and customers are spread around the globe, and their marketing message must be correctly translated into a variety of languages. After developing LinkUp, an application which allows users to link notebook computers to their HP Touchsmart, Local Concept client HP needed to edit and re-time the audio track of the product demonstration videos since they were to be distributed in ten different languages.

Local Concept awarded this project to Planet Post and their producers worked closely with PP editor Kyle Hoekstra to accurately edit the audio track so that the correct product information, description and instructions were always in sync on screen regardless of the language spoken.

One of the many professional video production services that Planet Post offers is renting and installing mobile video editing systems for clients who can’t come into our edit facilities in Downtown San Diego. This year is no exception as we’ll be providing multiple Final Cut Pro editing systems for Comicon 2011 at the San Diego Convention Center.

Besides supplying editing systems, Planet Post also supplies editors, HD cameras, experienced camera operators and a long list of production support services to producers who either don’t want to go through the hassles of shipping gear from home, or who need to hire experienced crews locally, but aren’t familiar with crew people based in San Diego.

Cobra Golf at The PGA Show

Cobra Golf recently teamed up with Planet Post to shoot and edit a series of videos showcasing Cobra’s new line of irons and drivers to be shown at the 2011 PGA Merchandise Show held in Orlando, Florida. All of golf’s best names in manufacturing attend this yearly event, featuring its brightest stars for equipment introductions, product testing, fashion presentations, industry announcements, a series of education seminars and networking special events to set the tone for golf business in 2011.

ESPN Year of the Quarterback

The Year of the Quarterback: The Kickoff, is a one-hour TV show previewing ESPN’s year-long examination into the lives and careers of quarterbacks from high school to the NFL. Written and hosted by Chris Connelly, the special will introduce the Year of the Quarterback (YQB) and its goal to provide an in-depth exploration into the most discussed position in sports. Originally scheduled to air in mid-December 2010, scheduling changes called for ESPN to air the first episode on New Year’s Eve during the “Red Bull: New Year. No Limits” event to be broadcast from Embarcadero Marina Park South in San Diego. To accomplish this, ESPN turned to Planet Post and its professional video editing suites in downtown San Diego, conveniently located just minutes from the park.

Planet Post provided complete post services for ESPN, from Final Cut Pro and After Effects suites and editors to Post Production Coordinator and even transportation from the Planet Post edit facility to the ESPN satellite uplink truck positioned at the event.

Saving America’s Mustangs (SAM) is a non-profit foundation dedicated to preserving the legacy of America’s wild horses. To highlight their cause, SAM has produced several videos for distribution to news outlets, donors, government agencies and other interested parties. SAM recently worked with Planet Post to produce a new video using media collected from a variety of sources.

“The project was a lot of fun and producer Christine Penrod of the SAM Foundation was really great to work with,” said editor Dave Friz. “The biggest challenge I had was in mixing low resolution You Tube type footage with some beautiful HD media and coming up with a result that wouldn’t make me cringe each time I saw it. I really had to reach deep into my bag of tricks to pull it off but in the end both Christine and I were pleased with the result.”
